In addition to the full cast announced in December, a highly creative team is already hard at work on the production. Long-time musical theatre director Michael McArdle takes on the role of Costume Designer and Université de Moncton graduate and recent participant in the world-renowned Banff School Sylvain Ward joins the team as Set Designer; and Kevin McIntyre (La Revue acadienne, Radio-Canada) as videographer. Suzanne Bourque (Academy of Classical Ballet and Modern Dances) and Jennifer Mendoza as choreographers, Linda Langille (BMHS Music Teacher) as vocal coach and Holly Waltz as accompanist and music consultant. The story behind this world-renowned musical features a young postulant who proves too high-spirited for the religious life, is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre.
The collaboration of the Capitol Theatre and Tutta Musica will see the creation of musical theatre at its best: a fully professional production with actors, live orchestra, dancers, and technicians of both national and local acclaim. Tickets (three pricing levels, taxes and charges included):
