Riverview High School Giving Kids the Royal Treatment

bnmatlanticwelness Students from the Yoga 110 Classes at the Riverview High School will be hosting their 2nd Annual “Royal Road for Kids” Festival, on May 30th, 2014, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Last year’s event proved such a success that students were eager to try their hand at it again.

This “Peace Project” is part of the Yoga 110 curriculum. Students are organizing an afternoon filled with a variety of events for both their fellow high school students and for this year’s invited guests, grade three students from the Riverview elementary schools. Among the planned events are face painting, swimming, yoga classes, zumba classes, water balloon games, low organized games, a dunk tank, a yummy bake sale, a coffee house, a BBQ and much, much more.

Students have decided to donate a large portion of the money raised at this year’s event to the Atlantic Wellness Community Center (AWCC), a registered charity located in Riverview. The AWCC offers free professional counselling services to youth aged 12 to 21 who struggle with mental health problems. “We are very proud of the students’ insight into the importance of mental health,” says Charlotte Love, Yoga 110 teacher.

The public is invited to drop by this year’s event, taking place at various locations around RHS but primarily at the football field, to participate in some of the fun and make a donation to a wonderful cause.
