Home for the Holidays with Symphony NB and Eleanor McCain

Eleanor McCain

Whether you are staying home or returning home to New Brunswick, the holiday season is a time to get together with friends and family. Bring your loved ones and join our very own Symphony New Brunswick (SNB), conducted by Michael Newnham, for their concert Home for the Holidays.

Warm your heart with the golden voice of New Brunswick native, Eleanor McCain, who will perform songs from her Holiday CD, including “”Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”,” “”What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” and ““Silent Night”.”

Born and raised in Florenceville, NB, Eleanor McCain found her voice as a young girl, singing at church, schools and community events. With musical training resources scarce in her small Maritime hometown, her mother drove Eleanor to Fredericton – nearly 150 kilometres away – for voice lessons to cultivate her budding talent. After graduating from the
music program at Mount Allison University, she moved to Toronto, Ontario to pursue her classical training.

““It’s a great pleasure to have this New Brunswick artist back to celebrate the Christmas season with songs from her beautiful CD in brand new orchestrations,”” says Michael Newnham, music director and principal conductor of SNB.

Backed by a full symphony, Eleanor will start this three-concert series in Moncton, with some of her favourite Christmas
songs.

““I love how music stirs such warmth and evokes wondrous emotions for me,”” McCain says. “”The sentiments run deep at this time of year and nothing does that more than through beautiful holiday music.””

The orchestra will also play some of their traditional favorites of the season, such as “”Waltz of the Flowers”” from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, and Hayman’s “”Carol of the Bells”.” The evening will end with an invitation for the audience to join in and sing along. Let SNB fill your Holiday Season with music to warm the soul!
