Capitol Theatre presents TNB’s The Musical of Musicals … The Musical!

TNB's The Musical of Musicals ... The Musical! runs March 15-17 at The Fredericton Playhouse and March 18th at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton.

On Sunday, March 18, at the Capitol Theatre in Moncton (811 Main St.), audiences have the chance to see five musicals for the price of one. Everything you love about Broadway comes together in one extreme night of musical theatre in The Musical of Musicals: The Musical! The show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale. This production is presented by Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. (DMCI).

“This is a hilarious satire of musicals that famous composers never got to write … but should have!” says TNB Artistic Producer Caleb Marshall who directs the production. “From the cornfields of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma to a Cabaret-style speakeasy, this show runs the gamut of the musical theatre genre. The secret to its success is the versatile and experienced quartet of actors we’ve put together,” said Marshall. “We needed to find a cast that could quickly switch gears from a Sweeney Todd-inspired Sondheim spoof to a spin on Jerry Herman’s Hello Dolly! to the mock opera of Andrew Lloyd Webber. ”

A high-energy musical matchup with some of Canada’s top musical theatre talent

She has played the ingénue in Into the Woods (Vancouver), The Sound of Music (Neptune), Dracula and as Sophie in the North American premiere company and first US Tour of Mamma Mia!

Best known to Fredericton audiences as Freddy Mac, the morning radio host on 105.3 The Fox, Fred McCausland returned to the stage after a 12-year absence in last year’s Treasure Island / The Marketeer. Before coming to Fredericton 15 years ago he spent his early performing career touring the country as a musical theatre actor and improv comedian with stops in Charlottetown, Halifax, Regina, and Winnipeg.

To capture five famous musical theatre styles, Marshall will be working with Music Director Mike Doherty, a prominent Fredericton-based composer, sound designer, producer and ECMA award-winner and Stratford Festival choreographer Nicola Pantin whose work has earned two Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

TNB’s Resident Set and Costume Designer Patrick Clark and lighting designer Leigh Ann Vardy (Bricklin, The 39 Steps) put their award winning talent to work to bring Broadway’s razzle dazzle to the stage.
