Three Poems by Kent Mill

Shadows

If you could see what I see
you may be excited,
you may shiver,
you may be revolted.

I see the shadows,
they dance like skeletons
across the freshly fallen
snow.

I see the wind whisper
past my ears, flittering
across the tree tops,
laughing, crying,
screaming, chasing
the shadows.

I see them both, wind and shadow,
dancing together.
Fast, so fast.
Appalled by this
spectacle, I try to
look away, but find my self
staring.

I see my frozen breath
as I stand rigid.
A statue of flesh and blood
amongst the cold wind
and macabre shadows.

Water & Ice

Crashing onto the shore.
Potent, yet tranquil.
The waves pound, Ice grinding.
Unmerciful, no remorse.

Transfixed upon the beach,
watching the action, my mind
starts to wander.

Like a maestro with his orchestra,
here I stand.
Controlling, mastering,
all powerful.
Obeying my every command.

Higher and higher,
more destructive
with every hit.
The ice spearing
the frozen sand.
Wind whipping through
my hair.
Eyes fixed upon the violent surf.

Crashing onto the shore.
Potent, yet tranquil.
The waves pound, Ice grinding.
Unmerciful, no remorse.

Loss of Senses

If you go out and
The children are laughing,
Arm in arm lovers strolling
Past in a city alive with color,
Make me hear, for
I can not see.

When you are out
And the church bells
Ring through the night,
If music notes float
By on a breeze, catching
Ends of conversations,
Make me see, for
I can not hear.

If you ever fall in love,
And your heart is light,
If you feel happiness and
Joy, all the finer things in
Life, make me understand
For I can not feel.
