Hum-Dinger of a Project

The Rotary Club of Chatham with Hummer
Miramichiers are known for their large volunteer base and great generosity in supporting local causes, but the Rotary Club of Chatham is kicking things up a notch with their newest fundraising project. It’s a Hum-Dinger!

Labour Day weekend 2005 a lucky Canadian will drive away in a Limited Edition 2005 Hummer H2 SUT while helping the Rotary Club raise money for projects in the community.

To help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International the Rotary Club of Chatham is selling tickets on one of only 25 special edition vehicles available in Canada. This 2005 Hummer H2 SUT comes complete with a DVD navigation system, front and rear heated leather seats, power sliding sunroof and much more.

“Our club has committed $100,000 to support the upcoming French Fort Cove Eco-Centre,” said Ross Hartlen, Project Manager. “The Eco-Centre is an exciting project full of promise for the Miramichi Region, however we have ongoing commitments to several other worthwhile projects.”

Open year-round, the French Fort Cove Eco-Centre will be a landmark tourist attraction in the region using interactive displays to showcase Miramichi’s history and culture while promoting education and environmental awareness. Construction on the new facility will commence in the Spring of 2005 with opening planned for the Fall of 2006.

Once the goal is reached to support Eco-Centre, additional monies will go toward other worthwhile local projects like the Safe Grad and Scholarship programs at James M. Hill Memorial High School and providing services for local seniors and disabled people.

Tickets cost $100 and can be purchased online at http://hummer.mightymiramichi.com or by telephoning 1-888-735-7822.

The Grand Prize 2005 Hummer H2 SUT includes sales tax, registration and delivery anywhere in Canada. Five runners up will receive cash prizes ranging from $10,000 to $500.

Tickets are on sale now with the draw to take place on September 5th, 2005.

Sponsored in part by Aliant, Kenco Printing, Mighty Miramichi, Miramichi Leader, Bremner Farms, Tozer Insurance and UPM-Kymmene Miramichi.
