Maritime Poetry

A Poetry Reading featuring Maurice Cormier and Joy Yourcenar will be held Friday, July 2nd, at the Attic Owl Bookshop in Moncton.

Maurice Cormier is a Moncton native who has returned home after years of being away, and never wants to leave again. He is a computer consultant, a lover of books, and he has just recently discovered the joys of poetry.

Joy Yourcenar is an American expatriate (and Acadian repatriate!) who recently moved to Moncton. Her poetry has been published in real and online poetry journals, as well as anthologized in In Our Own Words: A Generation Defining Itself Vol. 3, The Art of Haiku 2000, and Silhouettes in the Electric Sky. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and placed second in the poetry division of the 2002 Writer’s Federation of Nova Scotia Annual writing competition.

Everyone is welcome to attend this evening of poetry. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. The Attic Owl is located at 885 Main Street and the readings will begin at 8:00 PM. For more information telephone (506) 855-4913.
