Written submissions should be no more than 250 words. Or send up to six high-resolution photographs.

Annette Savoie, owner of Annette`s Alternative Healing in Miramichi, started her business out of her own quest to create the life she always wanted. She is passionate about helping people be the best they can be!

“Stress is a daily part of life but it doesn’t have to affect people negatively. There are techniques to deal with it effectively and that is what I do in my individual sessions or in conference,” she says. “I help take away your stress.”

I got thinking about this as I sat parked in front of the building that once housed our flooring business. It’s slated for demolition. It looks broken, used up, nothing like it once was.

I thought I might get a sense of soul if I went there just once more. I was mistaken. Gone is the laughter, the blood, sweat and tears. It used to vibrate with our passion and dreams.

I now get to view it all through rose-coloured glasses. I can let go of the struggles and remember the success. Brian and I would often look at one another and say, “We have the best customers!” It was a zoo in there. One former employee said, “It was a fun place to work.”

The ambiance was such that our customers would come and linger: perhaps on the showroom couch, sipping fresh coffee, meeting their friends and sharing their news. Come, sit awhile. Times have changed.

It’s important to begin again. With each passing, we must create a new adventure. There is no failure in life other than doing nothing.

It’s all too easy to charge through life, breathless, numb and missing the meaning, the beauty and the possibilities for rebirth.

Entrepreneurs have an opportunity to truly express who they are and create a great experience for both staff and customers. Don’t miss that! And, if you are in a job or career you hate, one that violates your deepest values, move on.

At the annual meeting the association elected a new board comprised of Maurice André Aubin, Gia Milani, Tony Whalen, Greg Hemmings, Gene Fowler, Pauline Bourque, Brian Francis and Ralph Pritchard.

The association has given itself the mandate to meet and work with the government to find a solution to the uncertainty that the industry is faced with in the immediate future. Time is of the essence.

Many major events and festivals that are important for the development and selling of future projects of New Brunswick producers will be taking place in the coming summer months. If the producers do not have a working system in place by this time the industry will basically have no other option but to close all future business in New Brunswick for years to come.

This is an initiative founded by Danny and Paula Matchett, owners of Danny’s Improvements. After working in the roofing business for many years, Danny became sensitized to the bare necessity of a good roof. He also became increasingly aware of the many families without a good solid roof over their head. Too often, the basic shelter and security that a roof provides is taken for granted. No one thinks about repairing a roof when the sun is shining, or maybe the thought does cross the mind, but the resources are not there to do anything about it. The roof gets put off for another year, and another, hoping things will get better, luck will improve and then when it rains it pours and the roof leaks, making a bad situation much worse and causing immeasurable heartache and stress on a family.

The ROOF project began from knowing these stories and a deep desire to give back to the Miramichi. Having a good solid roof gives comfort to the remainder of the house and lightens the everyday stress of the family within.
