Healthy Brown Rice in the Oven The
next best thing to a rice cooker.
If cooking brown rice on the stove leaves you with a mushy mess or burnt to the
bottom kernels, then this recipe is for you.
Ingredients 1 ½ cups of long grain brown rice 2 1/3 cup
water 2 tsp olive oil 1 tbsp fresh chopped ginger 1 tbsp fresh chopped garlic 3/4 cup chopped bell peppers Frank’s
Hot Sauce to taste
Preheat oven to 375°F. Boil water in a small pot. Put rice and olive oil in a 9” x 9” glass baking pan. Stir
in ginger, garlic and peppers. Sprinkle Frank’s Hot Sauce or other favourite sauce over the top of rice. As soon
as the water boils poor it over the rice mixture.

Cover with double layer of foil and bake for 1 hour. Do not remove foil when cooking.
When finished, remove and fluff with a fork. Cover again with paper towel and set for 5 min. To double the recipe, use a 13”
x 9” pan. Variations: Use your own favourite chopped vegetables, spices and sauce for a different tasting rice dish
each time.
