UNB Reading Series Presents Lee Maracle

leemaracle8_0 Lee Maracle of the Coast Salish (Sto:lo) First Nation will be reading from her work this Thursday, September 15 at 8pm at Memorial Hall on the UNB campus.  Everyone is welcome free of charge.
She will be welcomed and introduced by Imelda Perley, Elder-in-Residence at the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre at UNB.
Her newest books are the novel, Celia’s Song; the collection of her talks and lectures, Memory Serves; and her book of poetry, Talking to the Diaspora.
Lee Maracle is a prolific First Nations writer and expert on First Nations culture and history, and an influential Indigenous voice in Canadian postcolonial criticism. She was a co-founder of the En’owkin International School of Writing. She is an instructor at the Centre for Indigenous Studies at the University of Toronto.
She is the author of a number of critically acclaimed literary works, including Sojourner’s Truth and Other Stories, Sundogs, RavensongBobbi LeeDaughters Are ForeverBent Box, and I Am Woman: A Native Perspective on Sociology and Feminism.
This event is presented by the UNB Department of English, the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre, The UNB Bookstore, The Fiddlehead, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
