“Eat It Up” Exhibit Opening Reception May 26th

eatitup The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery’s invite everyone to attend the Opening Reception for a new exhibition called Eat It Up on Thursday May 26th, 2016 from 7-9 pm at 8 McCain Street in Florenceville-Bristol.

Featuring local and regional artists affiliated with the gallery, Eat It Up is a multi-media, group show that showcases a select group of miniature works that will have an effect much like the cake that Alice eats in Wonderland. Feeling enormous by comparison, the viewer will be forced to take time to get up close and personal with the work, to discover and appreciate all it has to offer. Curated by Victoria Hutt, the exhibition reinforces that small is powerful, presenting an allegory of our beloved New Brunswick. In our little province there is talent, strength and worth, even in its miniature frame.

Eat It Up will be on display from May 26th to July 2nd, 2016.

The exhibit includes work by Bryanne Thomas, James Buxton, Michael McEwing, Monike Hawkes-Frost, Nicole Manuel, Laurel Green, Marsha Clark, Ann Kittredge, Michael Khoury, Judith Saunders, Jean Haywood, Colin Smith, Irene Tompkins, Joss Richer, Donna Smallenberg, Jody McCleary, Jody Coughlin, and Sam Smith.

The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery is a non-profit, community Art Gallery operating on the banks of the St. John River in Florenceville-Bristol. The Gallery is open throughout the year and presents work by regional and provincial artists and artisans. Exhibitions change monthly and feature work ranging from historical to contemporary. The Gallery strives to provide a professional venue and cultivate a broader appreciation and knowledge of the arts in New Brunswick.

The Andrew and Laura McCain Art Gallery was established in 1984 as an exhibition space on the lower level of the Andrew and Laura McCain Library. The gallery was the dream of the late Billie McCain, and when the McCain family built and donated the library building, her dream was realized.
