ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Rebecca Lee is a local artist and owner of Rebecca’s Inkwell, Rothesay’s first and currently only tattoo studio. She began her career in early 2008 and studied at the Toronto Tattoo School. Since then, she has been making her clients smile for so many reasons: from fun, playful pieces, to the new found confidence from tattoos designed for mastectomy patients. This is her reason for doing what she does. The ability to spread happiness is her favourite part of the job. Rebecca’s inspiration is often drawn from nature, but her true love is the challenge in customizing each piece to the individual for whom she is workig. Although her trade focus is on tattooing, she also specializes in fine art mediums such as paint and sculpture; the second of which is being showcased in the STAFF MEAL art show.

Andi Emrich has been creating and experimenting in various art forms from the time she was a wee thing. Drawing was her first love which expanded into painting, collage, origami, wood carving, quilting, flower arranging and, now, embroidery. Since moving back to Saint John and living Uptown, Andi has fallen in love with the architecture in the city. Her work is an expression of that.

Molly Dedam was born and raised in Barnesville NB. She has enjoyed creating art since she was a child. She takes pleasure in painting with acrylic and oil, charcoal sketching and pastels. Molly realized she had a passion for fine art when she was 11 years old and has continued with this hobby for the last 15 years. For the STAFF MEAL art show she will be displaying acrylic and oil paintings as well as a charcoal drawing.

Sarah Jewett was born and raised in the small area of Darlings Island, where she grew up learning to love and appreciate the beautiful outdoors. From a young age she has had an interest in art and has always favored painting. Art has always been a loved hobby of Sarah’s, which she enjoys making time for in between work and studying to be a wedding planner. She has worked at East Coast Bistro since winter ’15 and never passes up an opportunity to divulge in their amazing food (specifically the sweets!). Sarah’s painting style mirrors her love of the outdoors and all things nature, as she prefers to paint still life photos of flowers, scenery and the occasional wildlife painting inspired by her all-to-wild pet cat, Nala.

Growing up in Northwestern Ontario, Darren Bennett had a natural inclination towards the arts. Honing his skills at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design, Darren specialized in jewelry and metalworks. Today he draws his inspiration from his work as a chef, and from day to day life. Translating his life in Saint John onto watercolour paper he uses not only paint but also ball point pens, coffee, cheap white glue, and sometimes the opposite end of his paintbrush.

STAFF MEAL opens on Monday March 21st at 7 pm at the East Coast Bistro, 60 Prince William Street in Saint John. If you miss the Opening Reception, the artwork will be on display in the restaurant for a couple of months.
