Capitol Theatre Honours the Late Marc Chouinard

marcchouinard On the first anniversary of Marc Chouinard’s passing, the Capitol Theatre in Moncton held a private reception with family and staff. During this reception, Managing Director Kim Rayworth unveiled a piece of visual art and a plaque paying tribute to Chouinard, re-naming the theatre’s green room the Loge Marc Chouinard Green Room.

An original work of art by artist Mathieu Francoeur from his series “Icônes acadiens”, as well as the following text, designates the space:

Enthusiastic supporter of the arts, Marc Chouinard was a builder and an instigator of artistic opportunities. He worked continuously to promote culture and artists, whether by producing performance occasions, providing rehearsal space, equipment or his precious advice. Even though he could be demanding and expected a lot from people, he gave more of himself in return. Above all, Marc was a backstage man; which is why the best place to remember him is right here, in the Green Room of his Capitol Theatre.

Mistral Communication and InColor Printing generously contributed layout and production of the tribute piece, as a token of their affection for Marc.

“Marc was a terrific leader and the Capitol Theatre’s General Manager from 2001 to 2015. It was important for us to honour him inside this building.” said Kim Rayworth. “Since his passing, a great number of artists have approached me to shared how much Marc contributed to their success. We really feel that the Green Room, where the artists prepare for a show, is the best possible place to honour him.”
