The origins of this event are very grassroots, growing out of a 2011 Facebook post that asked, “Should Moncton have its own Music Festival?” The post attracted a huge amount of feedback. Based on the instant reactions a core group of people who believed this type of event was long overdue, emerged to start pulling the event together. Immediately people came out of the woodwork to share their ideas of what should be the ultimate music festival experience.

Building on that momentum, and working with key partners like the City of Moncton, Capitol Theatre and Downtown Moncton, the festival committee developed a non-profit organization called Musik Central Inc to oversee the festival’s development. Festival sponsors SSI and Molson were quick to see the event’s potential and jump on board to make it a reality.

For the past decade, Moncton has been the host of many big musical names: Rolling Stones, U2, The White Stripes, AC/ DC, and Bon Jovi, to name just a few. To build on this success, many have felt that we have been missing an annual musical event to draw in tourists and entertain locals on a regular basis.

Festival President, Xavier Léger stated, “There are lot of music lovers in Moncton that have been dreaming such a festival would be created here. We want to expand on the annual anticipation of what big concert our city will be hosting, and help build an even stronger entertainment reputation for Greater Moncton.”

The festival committee plans on being here for the long haul, so they are starting small hosting amazing local and regional artists from all genres, while they plan to make the festival one of Atlantic Canada’s premiere stops on the music festival circuit.
