About Dave Gunning
A charismatic performer and world class songwriter, Dave Gunning has the magnetic gift of captivating audiences by painting pictures through his heartfelt stories and compelling songwriting, humorous lyrics, and stunning musical arrangements. Blending sensitive folk and innovative arrangements to his original songs, Gunning has rapidly built a solid fan base across Canada and abroad.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia’s Pictou County, Dave Gunning broke onto the East Coast Music scene in 1997. This singer-songwriter and working class hero has built up from humble beginnings to a point where his name is regularly included in conversation with artists such as David Francey, James Keelaghan, Ron Hynes, Stan Rogers, Bruce Cockburn, and Gordon Lightfoot.

A seasoned performer and entertainer, Dave has toured extensively both solo and with his band, performing to sold-out venues, festivals, house concerts and theatres throughout Canada, the US, the UK , Ireland, Denmark, and recently in Afghanistan, entertaining the troops. Dave has 10 critically acclaimed albums to his credit and his latest deed No More Pennies was released in September 2012.

Penny Drive
Since the Royal Canadian Mint reversed its initial decision and is now allowing Gunning to use the image of the penny on his album package at no cost, Gunning has decided to continue his plans for a “Penny Drive” and give all proceeds to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax. At each Atlantic Canadian performance this Fall, including Moncton, Gunning will be accepting penny donations. The Scotia Bank in New Glasgow (NS) has offered to roll all of the pennies and match de funds up to $5,000.
