Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay

The Owens Gallery in Sackville, NB, is pleased to introduce the exhibition Romantical by Montreal born artist, Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay.

The Owens will be hosting a reception for his exhibition on 21 September at 7:30pm. This reception will include opening remarks by Jerry Ropson from the Mount Allison University Department of Fine Arts and a performance composed by Nemerofsky and executed by several community members throughout the evening.

Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay works in video, sound, print and textile. His artworks have included concepts of love, emotional identity and language. Nemerofsky has exhibited in Europe, Asia and Canada and his work is part of the collection of the National Gallery of Canada.

Romantical is a reframing of Nemerofsky’s work Lyric, in which he sings lines from one thousand love songs poignantly developed into sound bites that are then sampled, arranged and sung together in a cycle. This video installation includes five monitors displaying Lyric that the viewer can enter into and exit at any point in time.
