As part of Theatre New Brunswick’s mission to celebrate New Brunswick talent, we are inviting established and emerging New Brunswick theatre artists to audition as actors or to apply to be assistant directors for the upcoming 2012-2013 TNB Season. We look forward to seeing old friends and discovering unknown talent on June 9!
Actor Auditions

General Auditions: Make yourself known.
General auditions offer you the opportunity to get involved with TNB and make yourself and your talents known to the company. This season we’re offering more opportunities than ever for local talent to be part of the company:
· TNB Adult Ensemble: Led by a host of theatre professionals this module-based program is made up of emerging and established community actors exploring theory and technique from the core disciplines of acting, voice and movement.
· TNB Foundation Gala Hooray for Hollywood: TNB will be producing silver screen-themed entertainment for 600 guests at this November 3 gala event. We’ll be looking for actors, singers, dancers or any unique talent that fits the Hollywood theme.
· TNB Remembrance Day event: On November 11 local emerging and professional artists come together at the TNB studio theatre for in-concert readings, songs and scenes that pay tribute to this region’s military tradition.
Audition Requirements
For general auditions: Actors may prepare two contrasting monologues or a song sung a capella and a monologue of their choice.
For specific roles: Actors will be asked to prepare sides and/or a song sung a capella from the chosen plays

Little Shop of Horrors (Equity) by Howard ASHMAN & Alan MENKEN| Directed by Caleb MARSHALL
TNB Main Stage welcomes spring with an energetic rock musical full of colourful characters, B-movie satire and 1960s-inspired rock, doo wop and Motown songs.
Little Shop of Horrors rehearses March 2-20 at 55 Whiting Road with a performance run March 21-24 at The Fredericton Playhouse.
Role Breakdown:
· Seymour Krelborn: mid 20s nerdish, insecure, naive, put upon hero. Tenor – Low A below staff – High G
· Audrey: 20s/30s Bleached blond well meaning bimbo. Mezzo – Low G below staff – High D (belt)
· Mr. Mushnik: 40s/50s The boss, sweaty, intense and rough around the edges. Baritone – Low G below staff – High E flat
· Crystal, Ronette & Chiffon- 20s/30s Ethnic, young, hip, smart and sexy Vocals will vary between Soprano, Mezzo and Alto. Low B (alto) – High F (soprano belt)
· Audrey II (voice & puppet manipulation) / Wino #1 Male Voice cross between Otis Redding, Barry White and Wolfman Jack – Street smart, funky villain. Baritone – Low G below staff – High E
· Orin Scrivello: 30s/40s a Tall, dark, handsome sadistic dentist. (also plays: Narrator, Wino #2, Customer, Radio Announcer, Bernstein, Mrs. Luce, Skip Snip, and Patrick Martin) Baritone – Low G below staff – High E
TNB Young Company (Non-Equity)
The Velveteen Rabbit and Scooter Thomas Makes it to the Top of the World
TNB Young company tours, sets up, performs, strikes and travels to another location. Performing 2-3 times a day for as many as 30,000 children over the tour. Ideal for a recent theatre school graduate.
TNB Young Company rehearses Jan 9-27 with a performance tour Jan 28-Apr 12, possible extension to April 26. Please note there is a one week unpaid hiatus during March break.
Role Breakdown:
Man 1: 5’7” or under, able to play a variety of characters including a young boy (Velveteen Rabbit). This actor will most likely play Scooter Thomas, a dreamer.
Man 2: 5’8 or taller. Able to play a variety of Characters. Experience with puppets an asset. This Actor will play ‘Dennis’ in Scooter Thomas Makes it to the Top of the World
Assistant Director Opportunities
Theatre New Brunswick is offering the opportunity for emerging and aspiring directors to be mentored as assistants on our professional productions as well as the possibility of a directing mentorship directing segments of the TNB Foundation Gala entertainment or TNB’s Remembrance Day event.
The Assistant Directors will be mentored with artistic direction and on approaches to the directing process and responsibilities include assisting the Director with notes, sightlines, research, scheduling and meetings.
Interested applicants should be university enrolled or a graduate, pursuing a career in theatre and possess experience in acting, directing or playwriting.
Possible opportunities include:
Oleanna – Sep 6-20 + prep days.
Hilda’s Yard – Sept 21- Oct 11 + prep days.
TNB Foundation Gala – Event date November 3, rehearsal TBD

Assistant Directors will receive a small honorarium.
