The Beaverbrook Art Gallery is looking for local actors to participate in a new event.
“The Factory Party” is a fundraising event taking place at 8pm on June 2, 2012. The Gallery is looking to cast five actors who will take on characters from Andy Warhol’s Factory period to interact with party-goers as the Gallery is transformed for the night.
The actors will use improvisational theatre techniques developed by Keith Johnstone (Royal Court Theatre, University of Calgary) to flesh out their characters and develop an interactive storyline that will unfold over the course of the evening.
Potential cast members must be over 18 years of age and experience with improvisational theatre techniques is an asset. In addition to four hours of performance on the evening of June 2nd (with breaks) participants must be available for two three-hour rehearsal sessions. The actors will receive a modest honorarium for their work.
Interviews with interested actors will take place on the morning of May 12th starting at 10am at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Contact mmcdonald@beaverbrookartgallery.org or call (506)458-0970 to schedule your appointment. A brief demonstration of acting and/or improvisation skills will be required, so please wear comfortable clothes.
