Rhinestone Cowgirl: A Tribute to Dolly Parton
Leisa Way bursts onto the stage in a flurry of feathers, fringe and bejewelled finery. The one-liners and commentaries Way delivers throughout the tribute are entertaining and hilarious just like the queen of country herself! However, the real magic lies in hearing Way interpret Dolly’s songs. Backed up by a terrifically talented band which includes: Bruce Ley, Dave Wilson, Randall Kempf, Kim Ratcliffe, and Cape Breton’s Aaron Solomon, Way performs hits from every era of Parton’s career, including: 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You, Jolene, Two Doors Down, Here You Come Again, Coat of Many Colours, Islands in the Stream and Why’d You Come In Here Looking Like That.
Watch the video below for a sneak preview of the concert:
A versatile singer/actress, Leisa has performed for the Kennedy family, the British Royal family, the Labatt Briar and the Special Olympics. Music has been a life-long passion and her talent has taken her to over 50 countries in the world.
Leisa Way’s career has roots in the Maritimes! Her first major role was “Anne” in Canada’s longest running musical, Anne of Green Gables, a role she was proud to play for six seasons at the Charlottetown Festival as well as in Canadian, US and Japan tours, tapings for CBC Radio and Television and three Royal performances.
Leisa has performed in major theatres across Canada and the US in roles as varied as Billie Dawn in Born Yesterday; Guinevere in Camelot; Peter in Peter Pan; the US off-Broadway tour of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!, Magnolia in Show Boat; Maria in The Sound of Music; Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music of the Night; and Norm Foster’s Long Weekend and The Love List.
