Two years ago Mississippi Heat really lit up the Roadhouse. This is because Mississippi Heat is one of the hardest working bands in Chicago with one mantra: play the traditional down-home Chicago sound with lots of energy and an original twist. That formula has been working for them now for almost 20 years in every part of the world: they’ve headlined the Chicago and Montreal Blues Festivals, are in great demand in Europe, and regularly work the best clubs in Chicago and everywhere else they go. The band leader, Pierre Lacocque (who has Canadian connection–he studied at McGill) has had much success at being the centre of an evolving lineup that has kept the sound fresh and interesting, and that has included guitarists Billy Flynn, James Wheeler and Carl Weathersby, vocalists Deitra Farr, Zora Young and Inneta Visor, and drummer/vocalist Robert Covington. The current lineup includes the fine vocalist Inneta Visor, Daniel Draher (ex-Etta James) on guitar, long-time member Victor Jackson on bass, Kevin Johnson on drums with Pierre on harmonica.

Please note that the slightly delayed start time of 9.30 PM, to accommodate our patrons who are interested in seeing the highly recommended Performing Arts Series presentation of the Ingrid Jensen band at 8 PM.

“MISSISSIPPI HEAT not only breathes new life into the classic sounds of Chicago Blues but they also uplift with joy and dedication everything they play.
