Miramichi Minor Ball Association (Miramichi Cardinals) announced registration sessions for the 2011 season will happen over three sessions in the next few weeks.
Times and locations are:
Saturday, April 23rd – 10am until Noon – Douglastown Community Centre
Saturday, April 30th – 10am until Noon – Lindon Recreation Centre
Thursday, May 5th – 6pm until 8pm – Lindon Recreation Centre
President Frank Aridano is looking forward to another successful summer in his first year leading the executive. “Last year we had about 200 participants of all ages starting at four-years-old in T-Ball. We are looking forward to growing that number as parents become more aware of the need for children to engage in physical activities. Registration fees can be used for the child recreation tax credit.”
Cost are as follows:
T-Ball – must be age 5/6 – $40.00
Rookie – must be 7/8 – $55.00
Mosquito – must be 9/10/11 – $55.00
Pee Wee – must be 12/13 – $65.00
Bantam – must be 14/15 – $80.00
Midget – must be 16/17/18 – $95.00
Junior – not older than 21 – $130.00
All ages are for the current calendar year.
The Miramichi Cardinals practice and host home games spread over seven ball fields in the Newcastle and Douglastown area. Competitive teams start at the Mosquito level. The organization is also looking for volunteers for many of their activities. “If you want to be involved with helping kids, please let us know,” says Aridano.
Tournaments lined up for the summer include PeeWee and Mosquito AAA on July 1-3, Mosquito A on July 22-24, and Bantam AAA July 29-August 1. This summer Miramichi was selected to host the Mosquito AAA Atlantics on Sept. 16-18. Director of Mosquito Vincent Allain was “very pleased to land this event in our area. It will bring teams from all four provinces, and we hope to field a very competitive local team as well.”
