Creative Writing Workshop in Miramichi

Bread ‘n Molasses Editor, Kellie Underhill, will lead a creative writing workshop at the South West Miramichi Access Centre in Blackville, NB, on Thursday, September 8th.

“We are honoured to have Kellie, with her expertise in creative writing, conduct a public workshop at our centre,” said Mary McCormack, Centre Manager.

A native Miramichier, Kellie grew up in the Blackville area and has lived in Toronto, ON, as well as Moncton, NB. She currently resides in Sackville, NB.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity to return to my hometown for this workshop,” Kellie said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. I believe everyone has something to say. And anytime I get the chance to encourage new creative writing, I seize it.”

The two-hour workshop runs from 7-9 p.m. and promises to awaken your creativity. Aimed at those who write or those who want to write, participants will gain sound advice, practical exercises and crucial information to put them on a path in creative writing. Whether you write for a hobby or you have a serious desire to publish, this workshop will help you develop strategies to enrich your creativity.

As well as editing Bread ‘n Molasses magazine, Kellie is an active member of the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick (WFNB) and currently sits on the Board of Directors. She is also the Editor of the organisation’s quarterly newsletter, NB Ink, and maintains the WFNB website.

Kellie studied journalism at Ryerson in Toronto. Her non-fiction writing has appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines including The Moncton Times-Transcript, Brunswick Business Journal and The New Brunswick Reader. Kellie’s short fiction has been performed on the Ashes, Paper and Beans poetry and writing radio program on CHSR-FM in Fredericton.

She has given public readings at various events in Miramichi, Moncton and Fredericton. In her spare time Kellie is currently working on a series of short stories and her first novel.
