Miramichi Relay for Life

Miramichi Relay for Life

Dear Friend:

On behalf of the Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Division and the Miramichi Relay For Life organising committee, I would like to invite you to be part of cancer history by participating in the 4th Miramichi Relay For Life on June 17th & 18th, 2005. Relay for Life is a celebration of survival and a tribute to the lives of loved ones touched by cancer. Come and experience an event like no other!

Entering a team is easy! Recruit 10-12 of your family members, friends, or co-workers. Participants pay a registration fee of $10, which entitles them to an event T-shirt, meals, and 12 hours of entertainment! NEW THIS YEAR: If your team can find us a new team, we’ll waive your team’s registration fee!

Once you have your team, we’ll supply you with all the necessary materials to help you raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Relay for Life is a 12-hour overnight non-competitive relay. Participants take turns walking, running or strolling around a track. Join us for a night of food, fun and friendship to beat cancer.

A Survivor’s Victory Lap opens the Relay for Life. Survivors are invited to walk the first lap of the relay to acknowledge and celebrate their courage in living with cancer. The Survivors’ Victory Lap gives survivors an opportunity to:

  • Share and celebrate success in their battle against cancer
  • Give hope to those who are living with cancer and their families
  • Thank everyone who helped them through their battle

After dusk, the Luminary Ceremony takes place. Candles line the track and are lit in honour of cancer survivors or in memory of loved ones who have lost the battle with cancer.

With the support of volunteers, participants, and sponsors, the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life is making cancer history. Relay for Life is about a community that takes up the fight. For more information or to register your team call Sherry Manderville at 627-4115 or myself at 1-800-455-9090.

One in three Canadians will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime. By participating in Relay for Life, we could dramatically decease that number.

Let’s Make Cancer History!

Sincerely,

Kurtis Sisk
