Featured Business Robbie: Cars, Trucks, Vans, SUVs — anything you
want or need! Melanie: And when did Downtown Auto Sales open? Robbie: In June of last year, 2003. Melanie: But you’ve been in the car business for
awhile, haven’t you? Robbie: Yes, since 1987. I started at Lounsbury’s
and then moved to Checkpoint. After that I took a Sales Manager position at Towne Mercury. Then I moved back to Checkpoint
as the Business Manager. After all this, I decided it was time to work for myself. I went on to open Downtown Auto Sales. Melanie: And how did you get started? Robbie: I first looked at buying another business, but
then decided that going on my own was a better idea. I received a lot of support from friends and relatives, so taking the
risk didn't seem like such a "risk." I just went with the idea. Step-by-step, I made my business grow into what it is today. Melanie: What do you think makes Downtown Auto Sales unique? Robbie: I offer straightforward honest deals as well as
after-the-sale service.
Melanie: Sounds great! What is your goal for the business? Robbie: My main goal is to provide straight honest deals
and make friends, while in the process of earning a living. Melanie: As someone who’s been there, do you have
any advice for readers who might be thinking about starting their own business? Robbie: GO FOR IT! Set a goal and expect to start at the
bottom and work your way up. Anyone can succeed if they put their mind to it. If the passion is there, you can do anything
your heart desires! Melanie: You’re a respected small businessman in
the community, what direction do you think the business community needs to take to ensure a strong economic future for the
Miramichi region? Robbie: The business community needs to attract MORE businesses,
and keep a positive attitude to ensure a strong future. I see good things happening here in the Miramichi! Melanie: We do too! So if we’re looking for an honest
deal, where should we go? Robbie: Downtown Newcastle, across from Tozer Insurance. Melanie: And when are you open? Robbie: Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm, Saturday 9am - 2pm

us today. Just out of curiosity — where do you see yourself in five years? Robbie: I see myself sitting where I am sitting right
now. Robbie McMahon, 40-year-old born and bred Miramichier, is married with
