Hello to Court, Grace, Darla, Earon and the rest of "my" gang on
the Miramichi. Just thought I'd fill you in. I received all my parcels many thanks, and we are hunkered down now (- 40 with
the wind-chill) and looking forward to the seafood chowder tomorrow night. Rob and I will have a cup of grog with a few toasts
to all our friends and family. Mom, I dropped some cabbage rolls off to Aunt Shirley yesterday, she sure was happy to have

Karaoke Talent Search at Flo's Hide A Way (Enclosure Campground), 8 Enclosure

On behalf of my mother I am trying to locate Mr Eric Andrews
from Newcastle NB. He was a soldier in the Canadian army. He was in the Netherlands (Europe) in the summer of 1945. His brother
died in the war in Italy. My Mother, who is 81 years old, has a personal message for him (or his children): she wants to show
him her gratitude.

The Mactaquac Country Chamber of Commerce presents the 1st
Annual Artisan’s Sale on the lawns of Kings Landing Historical Settlement Thanksgiving weekend, October 9-11. Artisans
who create and produce fine crafts will set up outside the Visitor Reception Centre. Organizers welcome vendors who design
and create (in Canada) the items to be sold. A maximum of 75 booth spaces sized 10 ft. by 10 ft. will be available. Registration
is $100. Interested vendors are encouraged to call the Chamber office at (506) 575-9622 and ask for an application. Electricity
is not available at this location. Vendors must provide their own tables, chairs, canopy, etc. Vendors of food items must

Katimavik in Town!
A group of 11 young participants from the Katimavik program hailing from as far away as Vancouver, BC, to St. John's,
NF, arrived in Miramichi on September 8th. Over the course of nine months, Miramichi will have the opportunity of having three
groups experience it's richness and warmth. These young men and women age 17 to 21, will spend their time working with local
non-profit organisations through Canada's leading national youth service program. The Katimavik participants will be making
a significant contribution to improving the community of Miramichi by working on a volunteer basis with the following community
organisations: Mount Saint Joseph, Croft Elementary School, Dr. Losier Middle School, Caring Friends, Carrefour Beausoleil,
and Miramichi Senior Citizens Home. Katimavik offers many ways for community members to get involved with the program and
to get acquainted with these young volunteers from across the country. Billeting a Katimavik participant for 2 weeks between
October 15th and 29th is a great way to travel without leaving home! Call Beth Amiro at (506) 773-3545 to learn more about

Miramichi Crime Stoppers & Chatham Lions Club present the first annual Fall Model Train Show on Saturday, September
18th, beginning at 10: 00 AM in the Chatham Lions Club (corner of Wellington & Cunard Street across from
Kingston's Car Wash). You will see operating layouts in G, O & HO scale. Railroading sales & display table. Over 30
displays. Three trolley cars will run from 10:30am to 3:00pm on Saturday between the Newcastle train Station and the old Chatham
Station, (where Choo Choo's is now located). Passengers can get on at either end. There will be a small fee to ride the trolleys.
Admission to the show is $3 for adults, students $2, Children under 12 free. Canteen on site. Do you have a working layout?

SPCA raise the
roof! The Miramichi SPCA is a registered charity. The
SPCA receives on average 25 complaints of animal cruelty every month

new reports of abandoned animals every week.

There will be a "Save Our Hospital" rally on Wednesday, September
1st, beginning at 7:30 a.m.in front of Region 7 Hospital. Minister Elvy Robichaud will be meeting with the Miramichi
Regional Health Authority Board to discuss the board’s position on the recommended “Cuts.” Please come show your support for the Board’s position on accepting
“no cuts.” The public can make a difference.

Hello to the beautiful Miramichi and to Bread 'n Molasses! Mr. Willis Hamilton has a new edition of "OLD NORTH ESK" on the Miramichi coming out around
September 1st. Anyone interested in getting a copy should send an e-mail requesting

has 593 pages and approximately twice as much text as the previous editions. It also has a 20 page glossary and a number of
photos while the previous editions had none. The book will be available in a pictorial softcover and also in a hardcover edition
with a pictorial jacket. There is no price for this book at this time.

I saw in your article a reference to The Crust Man. My Mother would often
recite this verse to us children. I have tried to find the origin of it but have never had any success. Do you know anything
about it? It is the first time anybody has even heard of it!
