Protesting Hospital Shutdown A public meeting concerning the rumoured shutdown of 100 beds at Region
7 Hospital will be held at the Miramichi Agricultural Exhibition Building on Monday, May 17th at 7:00 p.m. A concerned citizens group headed by local businessman, Bill Fraser, developed
an agenda for the information session.
Speakers will explain the health concerns facing the Miramichi region as
well as the repercussions from downsizing of hospital services. Paddy Quinn from radio station 99.3 The River will act as master of ceremonies
for the evening. Speakers will be given two or three minutes followed by questions from
the floor.
A demonstration will be held in front of the Legislature in Fredericton
on Wednesday, May 19th starting at 9:30 a.m. Protestors will send the provincial government the message that any
changes in the delivery of health services to the Miramichi region is unacceptable. Anyone requiring transportation by bus to Fredericton may call Historic
