Golf Tips by Jamieson’s Custom Clubs
What Golf Clubs to buy?
With all the manufacturers trying to get your business it can be a nightmare
deciding what golf clubs to buy. It is not how much you spend that determines whether you will be pleased with the performance
of the new clubs. Remember Original Equipment Manufactures spend millions a year on advertising and guess what you pay for
that when you purchase new equipment.
Do you think the professionals playing for the big bucks on TV on Sundays
are playing with equipment off the rack? The fact is the golf equipment being used by the world’s best golfers is all
customised differently from what is available to the general public. Don’t be taken by all the hype of advertisement.
What you see on TV on Sunday is probably not the equipment for your game.
Custom clubmakers pride themselves fitting you individually determining
the 20 plus factors that are best suited to your game. The correct head design, length, flex, weight, grip size, set make-up,
loft, and lie angle are some of the factors considered when custom building your clubs. If you struggle to hit the long irons
(2,3,4 irons) then you are a candidate for adding more high lofted woods to your set. Why spend money to buy clubs that you
cant hit.
This year manufactures have realised the need for higher lofted (12-15
degree) drivers to give the best possible distance for slower swing speed players. If your drives are less than 200 yards
then you are a prime candidate for these high lofted drivers to increase your distance of the tee.
The proper fitted shaft is 90% of the club. If the shaft is not fitted
to your swing then no matter what head in on the other end that club will not perform consistently for you. Graphite Shafts
vary in length, torque, weight, bend point, flex, tip stiff etc, etc, etc. Which is the right shaft for you can only be determined
by fitting analysis.
Remember your performance on the golf course will not be determined by
what name is on your golf clubs but rather if those clubs fit you. Have a great season.
