WINNERS OF SPCA "WHY I LOVE ANIMALS" ESSAY CONTEST
The Miramichi SPCA had a successful essay contest for children called "Why
I Love Animals."
The contest ran for the month of March and with two age categories of winners
chosen on April 5.
The six winners were Mitchell Jay-Keating, Nadine Pesch, Kate Miller, Lyndsay
Jay-Keating, Jared Stevens and Jessica Miller.
The children wrote wonderful stories about frogs, dogs, cats, an orca and
a pet goose.
"It was a difficult task to pick the winners as each of the children did
a great job. The way I see it, they all are winners and should feel proud," said project co-ordinator, Lois Kingston.
The SPCA said it was plain to see how deeply children care for animals.
They confide in them, trust them and give them unconditional love, which is what they wanted to hear in the essays.
A special thank you to everyone who sponsored prizes for this children’s
event including Beaubear Credit Union, County Cobbler, French Fort Cove, Friends of Beaubears Island, Siddall’s Jewellery
and Castlevania Sports.
