Hockey Heaven On Thanksgiving weekend 2003 Derrick and Tracey Russell and their three
daughters left to work in Airdrie, Alberta, just outside of Calgary.
Having been born on the Harper Road, Derrick has a lot of buddies in Chatham.
One childhood friend, Matthew Sokolowski, is the Assistant Trainer for the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Team. They have stayed in touch and when the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Team played
in Calgary on November 27th, 2003, Derrick met Matthew and spent the morning with him and members of the Team.
The pictures show it all. This is Hockey Heaven for Derrick. Derrick is a dedicated and motivated hockey player and loves to watch and
play the game. He played faithfully here on the Miramichi for a number of years. What a gift for a young man from the Miramichi!
That evening Tracey and Derrick went to the game between the Colorado Avalanche
and Calgary Flames. They had a great time and watched a great hockey game. For the Rotary Fun Run a couple of years ago Derrick while working with
Dew Engineering, Miramichi helped get a Peter Forsbert Colorado Avalanche Jersey. Over $800.00 was raised with it.
As you will note in the pictures Derrick is still supporting the Rotary
