Rotary Pond Hockey Tournament
The Rotary Club of Newcastle invites you to participate in the first annual Rotary Pond Hockey Tournament in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada.

The tournament will be held on the ice of French Fort Cove, a local nature park. It is a fund-raiser for the local Rotary club and will help promote Miramichi as a winter tourist destination.

We hope to have a lot of fun with it and get a little exercise to boot. The tournament will be held the weekend of February 4-6, 2005.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary, only the first 100 teams will be accepted to participate.

A team consists of four skaters (males or females) with no goalies. All games are 30 minutes long, with four games guaranteed. Different divisions will be available (e.g. competitive, over 40, women's) and will be structured based on interest levels.

Rules will be old style pond hockey (i.e. skates, stick, and helmet) including no checking, no lifting the stick past the waist, and no intentional lifting of the puck. Referees will be assigned to each ice surface.

The cost for the tournament is $300 per team ($75 per player), for which a $200 charitable tax receipt will be issued ($50 per player).
