New on DVD -- Around the World in 80 Days
by Jennifer Keenan

Frank Coraci directs Steve Coogan, Jackie Chan, Cecile De France and Jim Broadbent in the newest family adventure film Around the World in 80 Days.

In this remake of the Jules Verne classic, we see Phileas Fog (Coogan) as a dismissed inventor determined to be taken seriously, who makes a desperate bet to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days.

Accompanied by his trusted valet Passepartout (Chan) and new-found love Monique ( De France), they embark on a beat-the-clock race around the world, facing impossible obstacles at every stop.

As these characters travel by train, ship, plane and the ever-classic hot air balloon, they show us the importance of friendship and following your dreams.

Although Steve Coogan does a great job of playing the lead role of Phileas Fog, the true star of this movie is unquestionably Jackie Chan. The master of meshing martial arts with comedy, Chan helps this fantasy film take us on a trip the whole family can enjoy.

Around The World also racks up an impressive list of guest stars including John Cleese, Mark Addy, Macy Gray, Rob Schneider, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as Owen and Luke Wilson playing the Wright Brothers and Kathy Bates as the Queen of England.

From England to India, China to New York, I was unexpectedly caught up in this race around the world. Action, adventure, magic, even a love story — Around the World in 80 Days is a laugh-out-loud comedy that has something for everybody.

Special Features include an alternate beginning, deleted scenes with introduction by Director Frank Coraci, as well as audio commentary by Director Frank Coraci and Actor Steve Coogan.

Featurettes include Discovering Around The World In 80 Days and Around The World of Jackie Chan, a behind-the-scenes of the stunt choreography.

But the role Jennifer enjoys playing best is being a stay-at-home mom for her three children.
