Tips from the Top
by CPGA Golf Professional, Brett Redden

Casting, or throwing the club at the ball from the top of your backswing?

Check your release point in your golf swing. The release of the golf swing happens much later in the swing than most amateurs believe.

In order to check yours, first, turn your club around so that you grasp the head, NOT the grip end, of the golf club. Now take normal swings and listen to when you here a "whoosh". That "whoosh" is when your angle of your wrists/forearms are releasing.

Try to make the "whoosh" happen below your hip height on your forward/downswing or even past the ball. This will help you cure your casting, or throwing the club at the ball from the top.

This tip will help you have = better ball contact = more power = more distance.
